This is a development blog for various projects at Subscribe to the RSS feed for this journal.

As present, is a place to pimp various game programming projects that I work on. Usually, they are pet projects that I use to try out new algorithms, experiment with various techniques, etc.

Currently, I am working on a roguelike provisionally called Middlecrest (it's a working title, which may change, but is the name of a city where the action of the game takes place). The premise is, essentially, to design and implement a roguelike that emphasizes complete procedural generation of all content (dungeons, quest system, characters, etc.) and advanced artificial intelligence techniques, in a continually changing game world that reacts to your actions as you play.

Many games have tried this (notably the Elder Scrolls Series) but the idea of a completely free-form game world has only been implemented on a limited scale and not in the ways I always wanted to see. I wanted to take this idea and expand it as far as I could, so that even the character interactions and world events were completely free-form and unexpected.

Let's see how well this can be accomplished! So, in the meantime, you can follow various aspects of the progress here.
